Zonely is building zoning intelligence for Cape Town—combining official data, GIS and AI chat into products homeowners and professionals actually use.
What we're building
We started with the City of Cape Town: free zoning checks, Property Snapshots and deeper Property Reports, all backed by an AI chat interface tuned to local planning rules. Behind the scenes we use GIS data, official zoning schemes and our own retrieval layer to answer questions in plain English rather than legal jargon.
Why now
Zoning and consent processes are a bottleneck for homeowners, architects and agents. Today they rely on manual lookups, PDFs and phone calls. We see an opportunity to standardise that work into reusable zoning intelligence and tools that scale across thousands of properties and projects.
Where we're going
Our roadmap focuses on deeper coverage for Cape Town (more zones, overlays and workflows) and then adapting the same patterns to additional municipalities. We also see value in serving professional workflows—architects, town planners and lenders—on top of the same underlying zoning rails.
